I blogged Tradesman for the first time last week and I seriously can’t get enough of this sound right now. There is also a Tradesman remix of the amazing Warrior Queen track Poison (from The Bug’s London Zoo record) on Soundcloud right now. I’ll be blogging that at some point, but can’t cover the same artist three times in two weeks with so much other good stuff doing the rounds.

Anyway, Luverz Digital is pure digi diginess. I love it.

A wonderful EP for your earlobes this Friday. It’s sunny in London town so here’s some vibes all the way from the Czech Republic, via Reading, UK, Jamaica, Trinidad and Nairobi, Kenya thanks to the stellar line-up United Forces of Dub have pulled together.

This mixed-up single track is the best way to listen to the EP without buying the 12” vinyl (which is just £8 at Scotch Bonnet). It’s one of many records that come out in the digidub world that showcase the truly global nature of this genre.  United Forces of Dub are better than most labels at pulling top talent from across the world onto wax, but there releases are few and far between - make sure you pick them all up (£26 for the lot at Scotch Bonnet).

The tracklisting is:

Solo Banton - Stand Tall
Dada Afrik & Kalcia - Real Gal
Fireson - Babylan Waan Tear Mi
Rueben Mystic - Show Love
Juakali - Revolution Now
Amiga Version

No clues about this one, but apparently it’s out on 7”. It’s legendary Jamaican artist Freddie McGregor mixing it with Belgium’s Ballistic Soundsystem, singing a song about not putting your hands in fire. Fine advice, but some way behind Solo Banton’s mantra of not molesting children (or taking cocaine)

So, the 7” is apparently out on UK label Stingray Records, their shop doesn’t have it though. If anyone finds it, please let me know.

Woah! What is this? Essentially it is amazing, categorised somewhere between dub, ska and a spaghetti western. It reminds me a lot of an amazing Master Musicians of Bukkake 7” (£7.39 at Norman) but has a more dubby edge, thanks to the wonderful Prince Fatty, also known as Brighton-based record producer Mike Pelanconi who has worked on projects “from Acid Jazz to Lilly Allen via The Pharcyde and Graham Coxon”.

The Mutant Hifi mentioned in the artist name is Nick Coplowe, also a record producer known for his work for the On-U Sound label.

Transistor Cowboy appeared on the Return of the Gringo LP, available from Mr Bongo for just £10.99, you can also pick up the track on 7” from Mr Bongo for £4.99

The Mr Bongo label also appears on Soundcloud you can check out much of their back catalogue on Spotify.
Worth noting (for a blatant plug) that this track is my current jam on thisismyjam.com

A bouncy riddim to kick off a delayed start to the week here in the UK. This is by Leeds-based producer Tradesman who has little web profile away from his Soundcloud profile, best to head there and hope for more tunes soon…

Massive new release out right now. Almost a dream 12” line-up for me - Eek-a-Mouse, Mungo’s Hi-Fi and Solo Banton come together for this 12” released through Scotch Bonnet sister label Scrub a Dub.

[If you cannot use Spotify, listen to the record for free on Soundcloud]

The lead track is a dark riddmic piece of dub taking the legendary Eek-a-Mouse’s vocals for Treason - taken from my favourite Eek-a-Mouse LP Mouseketeer [best LP cover ever] - I may be wrong about that, but I don’t think I am. The Solo Banton track is a refix of Kung Fu Master, which appeared on the Music Addict EP.

This one is likely to fly off the virtual shelves, get it on 12” while you can direct from Scotch Bonnet for a frankly stupidly cheap £6.
