Happy Mothers Day to all mums in the world.

To celebrate, here are some fine vibes from Solo Banton and Aqua Livi you should replicate to honour your own mum.

Oh what a tease you are Solo! The great Solo Banton has treated those on Soundcloud with a demo sample track Done Dem. It’s only two minutes long, but is sounding amazing. Produced by Cagliari-based  Islasound and coming out (I think) on Cuba Records, this is one to look out for.

A wonderful EP for your earlobes this Friday. It’s sunny in London town so here’s some vibes all the way from the Czech Republic, via Reading, UK, Jamaica, Trinidad and Nairobi, Kenya thanks to the stellar line-up United Forces of Dub have pulled together.

This mixed-up single track is the best way to listen to the EP without buying the 12” vinyl (which is just £8 at Scotch Bonnet). It’s one of many records that come out in the digidub world that showcase the truly global nature of this genre.  United Forces of Dub are better than most labels at pulling top talent from across the world onto wax, but there releases are few and far between - make sure you pick them all up (£26 for the lot at Scotch Bonnet).

The tracklisting is:

Solo Banton - Stand Tall
Dada Afrik & Kalcia - Real Gal
Fireson - Babylan Waan Tear Mi
Rueben Mystic - Show Love
Juakali - Revolution Now
Amiga Version

Massive new release out right now. Almost a dream 12” line-up for me - Eek-a-Mouse, Mungo’s Hi-Fi and Solo Banton come together for this 12” released through Scotch Bonnet sister label Scrub a Dub.

[If you cannot use Spotify, listen to the record for free on Soundcloud]

The lead track is a dark riddmic piece of dub taking the legendary Eek-a-Mouse’s vocals for Treason - taken from my favourite Eek-a-Mouse LP Mouseketeer [best LP cover ever] - I may be wrong about that, but I don’t think I am. The Solo Banton track is a refix of Kung Fu Master, which appeared on the Music Addict EP.

This one is likely to fly off the virtual shelves, get it on 12” while you can direct from Scotch Bonnet for a frankly stupidly cheap £6.

Goodness me, this is a record I’ve wanted on vinyl for a long time but haven’t yet raised the funds to import it. It’s a downright danceable way to go into the weekend and comes straight out of Italy via Torreggae.

Featuring an amazing Solo Banton vocal too, you can enjoy it here via Spotify, or check out the sublime video over on Youtube.

I’m still in two minds about the ability to embed entire records through Spotify, on one hand, it opens up an entire world of music and makes my life a bit easier, it also pays the artists for the streams. On the other hand, not everyone can access Spotify, and that means not everyone can enjoy the sweet digidub love.

Regardless, I’m going to start trying it and seeing how we go, it’s nice that I can start promoting entire records and the artists get paid, so I’m going to put records up in full every Friday and apologise lots to those of you who can’t access it.

First up is the latest release from Jahtari - a long-awaited Solo Banton / Disrupt collaboration that was released (and sold out rapidly) on 12”
